The Destinations

Drinking
Great Lakes Brewing Company - 2516 Market Ave.
Stop by the brewery and have one of their amazing beers. The bar/restaurant is across the street from the actual brewery in an great old building with tables upstairs, in the cellar, and outside (for those nice days). If you can get a tour of the brewery, do that as well. You'll get some free tastings on the tour, history of the brewery, and some history of the beers (which offers some great history on the city). Also, as a side note, if you are a person interested in sustainable businesses, check out and ask about what Great Lakes is doing.
The Velvet Tango Room - 2095 Columbus Rd.
If you are not into cocktails yet, this place should do the trick. Its located in a unadorned old building with only a neon sign giving any indication of what awaits inside. The drinks are expensive, but well worth the cost. They are strong, though, so one should be all you need if you ever want to be able to get back on that bike.
The Treehouse - 820 College Ave.
This stop is an Irish pub and lest you should think they do not take their name seriously, you will be delighted to know a large tree crops up from the center of the bar and onto the ceiling. Grab a Guinness if you're looking for a touch of Irish on the tour; otherwise, they have many other good beers to choose from.
The Market Garden Brewery & Distillery - 1947 W 25th St.
Opened in 2011 right next store to West Side Market, they have Cleveland first beer garden. They have session beers, seasonal beers, and a distilling line of small batch spirits.
Eating
West Side Market - 1979 W 25th St.
The origins of this market date back to 1840 and the historic building in which it is located was completed in 1912. There are over 100 vendors here, with diversity and choices in excess of what any person could desire. Stroll around, have a snack, and grab a view of the whole market from the 2nd floor balcony.
Lola - 2058 E 4th St.
This is the second incarnation of Lola (originally Lolita in the Tremont neighborhood was called Lola). Check out Michael Symon's much hyped (and well-deserved) "meat centric" dishes. Not the best place for the vegetarian BED tour participant.
Lolita - 900 Literary Rd.
This is Michael Symon's first restaurant, originally called Lola and named for his aunt. The restaurant earned great reviews and its success allowed Michael to open his other great restaurants. Again, the "meat centric" dishes here, as with Lola, will have the carnivores drooling and begging for more. Not so much the vegetarian (not a bad time to think about converting).
Eating and Drinking
Nano Brew Cleveland - 1859 W 25th St.
This place has a one barrel brewing system to provide the neighborhood with some homemade brews. In addition, they carry an extensive beer menu. The offer a fun and creative menu to fill your stomach with a little grub. Take a seat inside or on their nice big patio, weather permitting.
Happy Dog - 5801 Detroit Ave.
What you have here is a beautiful combination of eating, drinking, and entertainment. You can get a hot dog and load it with as many toppings as you want. Then, you have many drinks to choose from, including an huge beer menu. Many nights of the week there is live music to provide you with some entertainment. All at prices even the cash strapped will find reasonable.
Biking
Ride around Downtown
Start off slow (watch traffic too) and really pay attention to the downtown. Look at the buildings showing off the glories of the past, see some of the effects of economic decline, and the revival that is now happening in downtown. Even consider starting without the bike to walk around the pedestrian area of E 4th Street and the adjacent historic Cleveland Arcade, considered one of the first indoor shopping malls in the United States.
Lake Front
Ride around the parks and attractions on the Lake Erie water front. View the Rock'n'roll Hall of Fame (stop in if you would like) and FirstEnergy Stadium where the Cleveland Browns play. Voinovich Bicentennial Park provides a nice place to sit and view the lake and even do some fishing if you came prepared.
Detroit-Superior Bridge
Use this bridge over the Cuyahoga River to get from downtown to the Ohio City neighborhood. It is a historic bridge, which at its completion in 1917 was the largest steel and concrete reinforced bridge in the world.
Ohio City
Ride around the hub of the one of the oldest neighborhoods in Cleveland. See history and urban restoration coming together. In addition, this area has the highest concentration of breweries in the city.
